I am very please with my purchase. The gas shock makes the weight a little more manageable when raising the table from its storage position to the working position. Very little assembly required and product arrived complete with no damage. Even though I have a very heavy 12" saw mounted on it, it performs as advertised. When in the storage position, the table and saw can be stored up against the wall, taking up much less space. The wheels make the saw very mobile around the job site.
If you own a Miter saw.you should not be without a stand such as this.Makes using this so much easier.
When you tighten them they are fine - if you are lucky enough to adjust them perfectly. It is not nearly as easy to collapse and erect as the gravity folding stands that are out now, the extensions take a lot of time to set correctly because they sag the further out you go, and you have to adjust the supports each time you move them. There are just too many problems with this stand to make it useable for someone who makes money with tools. This stand may work fine for most, but not if you move it often and are particular. You have to put weight on them to set them up which makes it much harder to set the supports. The supports are tightened with a system that really sticks, sticks so much that it is very difficult to adjust them up and down. My Rigid is easy to fold and erect and the extensions and supports are easy to set up. I haven't tried the Bosch gravity miter stand yet, but it looks much better.
It should be easy to rig up for planer when I do need it. I was remodeling kitchen & had to get crown molding up in 1 weekend so cabinet finsher could start on Monday. It also takes up fairly small area in shop when stored. It was easy to mount jigs to and was sturdy & stable. I didn't realize how much easier cutting molding on longer bed would make. I was very satisfied with it. Amazon did great job getting it here quick.
- When the stand is in the fully extended position and you are ready to collapse it for storage it's a struggle to get the release latch to retreact the holding pins and collapse the table. The only flaws or drawbacks are these:- The actual table portion of the stand is mounted on -U- channel steel tracks which enable you to slide the mounting brackets back and forth to properly mount your saw. Overall this is a well constructed and solid saw table that I use for my Hitachi miter saw. My brother has an older version of this stand and it is awsome, functional and easy to use. The downside is that they get completely filled with saw dust after a few minutes of use.- The stand also has retractable table extensions for supporting your longer lengths while you saw. The downside is that they are held at heigth by a single hand tightening screw which isn't strong enough to support the weight of the table extensions and causes them to sag lower than table height. The best that I could give this version of the stand is 2.5 stars out of 5. It's better than nothing but you may want to look for something better.
